Factfulness

Factfulness by Anna Rosling Rönnlund, Hans Rosling, and Ola Rosling. I recall Hans Hosling’s energetic TED talk where he shows an animated bubble chart to highlight the fact the world has been getting better. This book is an extended written form of the same idea. I enjoyed the quizzes to test the reader’s pre-conceptions and the data driven approach.

Random things learned:

The US healthcare is setup in a way that the rich spends more time than they should in doctor visits.
Some public hospitals in poor countries are kept low-key/ugly so the rich won’t go there (they can afford going elsewhere).
Sometimes the most useful action you can take is to improve the data.
News are not a good way to understand the world.
